The Team
Derrick Chapman
Derrick Chapman, co-founder of DC Power Plants, is a seasoned renewable energy leader with a Community Solar Developer certification from the Department of Energy. Serving as a Board member for Key Tech Labs and the former Executive Director of C.A.C.T.U.S., he has championed initiatives, training over 700 professionals for sustainable energy roles. Derrick's distinguished 12-year service with the San Jose Fire Department, notably as Fire Captain and SJ Fire Explorer Program's founder, fostered his profound leadership capabilities. With honors such as “Firefighter of The Year” and significant community board roles, Derrick fervently champions renewable energy solutions and community development.
Adam C. Power
Adam Powers, co-founder of DC Power Plant, champions sustainability and community growth. With board roles at Olympia Community Solar and Big Tent Outdoor Recreation Coalition, he drives renewable energy initiatives and emphasizes BIPOC inclusion. His innovation at Shark Garden led to a groundbreaking solar microgrid, and his leadership at Key Tech Labs fostered key tech partnerships and significant fundraising. Acclaimed by WTIA for tech diversity and armed with a tech education background, Adam synergizes technology, green energy, and community outreach for meaningful impact.
